No Longer watering people who don't want to grow

"Oh, you make me want to kick you through the roof!" Truly Milo thought Cheng was a dufus. Someone still laid near the fire unchanged. Of course, Milo was talking to the real Cheng.

"What were you thinking!" Milo's teeth gnashed. This was all wrong. This was not the covert affair he imagined. They would be friendly with these beggars. They would use their wit, not storm the place.

"It was an accident," Cheng shrugged, but Milo could see his sly smile. Milo shook his head, no.

"Look what's become of Qing!" Oh, if he'd had a sword in his hand he would duel him, but both were too tired to think of that.

"What about it?" Cheng sounded as if she'd snap out of it. "Even if she doesn't. Imagine the surprise." He made light of it. About then supper came of stewed rabbit and apple dumplings. Of course, Cheng chowed down like a misfit dog.

Milo only grimaced as he hugged himself hard. Seriously, he was losing his appetite just watching him.

"Tell me about this guard, you fought with," Milo wanted to know everything.

"Just the usual," Cheng licked his lips as he drank the meaty broth from the bowl. "He's no demi-god."

"And neither are you," Milo's scowl was small but just as cold as he could be. He looked away then to the stars outside the cave. He had no idea if they would be safe here.

"What? You think I'm just common, don't you?" Cheng shot him a look that Milo was just too arrogant for his own good.

"You don't know anything," Milo practically growled back. "You're an idiot. Use some common sense." Milo tapped his index finger against his temple.

Cheng had nothing to say, but he enjoyed the apple dumplings immensely.

  1. "No longer watering people who don't want to grow" is such an excellent title. We all know someone like that, and letting them wilt can be hard. I guess Cheng is that person here, a dufus (I always like seeing that word; it makes me laugh) ignoring good advice and tucking into an apple dumpling.

Thanks so much for including my blue florals in the collage. It's so good to see them now that the world is turning gray. 🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸

  2. Milo is incredibly blunt with his dialogue, and I am here for it!
