Close your eyes

ChaCha looked up at the mysterious stranger. ChaCha was certain she might die on the spot. ChaCha could sense the poison. There was something strange about the little girl. Her lips were as crimson as her fancy dress and shoes. She might as well have been an alive China doll. She couldn't be real. But she was and she knew Milo.

ChaCha nibbled on a chicken leg. She'd eat until the very last moment. All the while her ears perked up to listen where this conversation might lead.

The child laughed at both of them as if this was the best holiday she'd had in quite a while.

"No, seriously, Miles..where have you been?" The way she spoke, ChaCha was certain she was no child, but a Vampire. Not one by romantic seduction, only by revenge.

ChaCha watched in aw. Yes, the child needed blood in order to age. Otherwise, she'd become a toddler soon, perhaps die.

"Corrine, you look-" Milo started, but she cut him off.

"You've been wasting your time, with her?" She pointed to ChaCha as if she was in no way such splendor as she was with her semi-devil talents.

"What does it matter, you said I was just as good as dead," Milo was even lipped as he went to put his scraps of food away.

"Now, that's not fair, you know the stress I've been under as of late." She put her hands on her hips as if he better do something about the matter.

"And I've lost most of the power you gave me," Milo pressed his lips as if she wasn't nearly as superior as she claimed. "Or was that how you wanted it all along?"

ChaCha looked at Milo doe-eyed. What had she gotten herself in too? She'd never thought a ghost, like him, could be involved with a vampire.

  2. Whoa. Talk about your Children of the Corn-esque creepy kiddies! The only thing scarier than Corrine's Benjamin Button-like quest for blood is how it calls ChaCha's trust for Milo into question. Thanks for such a suspenseful and thought-provoking, not to mention Halloween-themed, installment! :)

Chacha didn't like it at all.

  4. I really enjoyed this paragraph, bringing the reader into the scene, into all the conversation, sights and tantalizing smells. My favorite line was: "You've been wasting your time with her?" She pointed to ChaCha as if she was in no way such splendor as she was with her semi-devil talents. 🧐
