Milo knew he couldn't stop her. Corrine was famished and she took pleasure in taking a bite out of the old merchant's wrist and feeding off every drop of blood. By the time she was done he was charred. She licked her lips with a sassy smile.
She waved Milo and ChaCha over. "Come children, it's time to go."
The black stallion had rejuvenated. He was no longer a muted grown. Of course, she would need Milo's help. Had he forgotten the drill? Usually, he carried her on most occasions when he was in her custody.
"Don't you dare touch her," Milo wanted Corrine to know she was not to harm ChaCha.
"Who?" Corrine only smirked. She finally sighed. "Well, I've always wanted a little sister to tell my secrets too."
Finally, he helped her on the horse and she motioned for ChaCha to get behind her. Milo guessed he could lead the way on foot.
"This won't do." She motioned for him to come on up with them.
Milo looked at her stunned. Wasn't he a mere slave to her? He knew how these semi-devils were, even if she spoke of herself as an enchanting martial arts goddess. She was telling ChaCha all about her sisterhood. Maybe she'd like to join. "You know, I taught him everything he knows."
By the time Milo found his place behind ChaCha the horse took off at a plunging gallop. The stead was practically flying.
"Where are we going?" ChaCha wanted to know as she hugged on to Corrine who held on to the horse's tresses. Thankfully, Milo didn't let go of ChaCha.
"The palace, of course." Corrine was her true self. It was the same old battle. She yearned to duel her sister at every given moment. But not once had she won.
Interesting
ReplyDeleteUy parece que pronto habrá una batalla. Te mando un beso
ReplyDeleteWhat a detailed description of Corrine biting the merchant! I felt like I was there.
ReplyDeleteAnd the rivalry-slash-friendship between ChaCha and Corrine adds suspense and tension. The ending is a thinker: "It was the same old battle. She yearned to duel her sister at every given moment. But not once had she won." Well done! I'm excited to see what happens next. :)
Oh no, I wouldn't be able to live with my sister even if I love them very much. It is unnecessary when living together, and that's peace and quiet!
ReplyDeleteI loved the chapter

I feel myself in the cinema and watching this chapter. (Just imagine) Movie scene looks great. Weather is dark and very Cloudy, "battle looks old battle but weapons are so new". Also scene of "ChaCha and horse" looks amazing.
