There was a time when she followed all the rules. Yet ChaCha was certain she'd be stuck on a shelf somewhere, just to look pretty..if..if life was still normal at the palace.
She knew deep inside she was not a patient person. She never had been. Oh, the times she'd waited on the sidelines of all the pageantry. The palace was a place for men and their thoughts and their desires. While all along she'd only wanted a bunny or maybe escape the palace walls to feed a pony a carrot. She really hadn't asked for a lot. Of course, nothing had prepared her for this voyage. Sure, she was meant to be kept as something no more than a figurine on a shelf. But that was the past. And as cruel as it was for a new start, she felt so lost if it wasn't for Milo.
ChaCha sighed, thinking Milo was just being weird now. It was all about trickery. Although, she'd seen things. He had not had a kind life. Especially with that semi-devil. ChaCha was in a pout as she thought about their weeks or was it months under her influence. It was amazing they were still here.
She crossed her arms and looked Milo over. Had he really changed?
"Well, do something," she shrugged.
"Like what?" He looked at her as if he wasn't sure what she was expecting.
"What can you do that's so much faster and.." She was skeptical. They were both so weak. She didn't know what to do.
She looked over at the cold wood ready to start the cooking pot. "Well?" She swelled a pout until her frown was a full circle. Seeing was believing.
"Oh." Milo nodded. Obviously, he couldn't read minds, she thought.
"You want me to start a fire?" He grinned. His smile was so pleasing that it almost made her laugh.
"Go ahead." She smiled back as if this was not going to work. They might as well be on the road to nowhere.
"Why don't you do it," Milo smiled as if he might already be intoxicated.
"Why do I have to do everything," ChaCha snapped. With that, she pointed to the standing sticks waiting to be lit, and out of nowhere she shot a spark and the fire engulfed.
ChaCha jumped back as her opposite hand covered her mouth as she gasped with enthusiasm. She couldn't believe it as her eyes watched the flames, steady with great energy. She looked at her index finger.
"Oh, don't point that thing at me," Milo chuckled.
She is daring

ReplyDeleteIt was fun finding out what ChaCha is thinking and how her past influences her present: "Oh, the times she'd waited on the sidelines of all the pageantry. The palace was a place for men and their thoughts and their desires. While all along she'd only wanted a bunny or maybe escape the palace walls to feed a pony a carrot. She really hadn't asked for a lot." No wonder she's ready for adventure! The banter between her and Milo is great; I'm glad they could work through the "weirdness." :)
