on a sweet night like tonight

They'd talked late into the night after a good meal of spicy fish stew, steamed buns and of course, magical wine.

Naturally, it was talk about the good they would do with their newfound martial art skills. "It's not something you can play around with."

Milo agreed. "I'm glad you see it that way." He didn't think they were either semi-devils or demi-gods. "It's just I'm not sure I have confidence."

"What are you talking about?" ChaCha looked at him as if he was just being silly now. "You do. I know you. I trust you."

Perhaps he was thinking of all that he'd lost in the past. He didn't know if she would even listen to him. "Its hard for you to even know what it's like." Milo looked away, wondering where all his memories had gone. They felt selective now, perhaps. Where had it all gone wrong?

"We live in a world where those that hold the power can lose it too." Milo winced. Surely ChaCha knew this. "It's not something you want anyone to really know."

ChaCha nodded as she scooted her knees up, her dress covering her as if she was already bedded down neatly. She rested her chin on her two fists as she sat there in thought. "I know. I know exactly what you mean." She swore it would be their secret.

Milo soothed down her long silky tresses as she nursed the corner of her bottom lip.

"But we have to be able to fight." He told her anything was possible out there. He was certain it was best to be unseen, but that wasn't always possible. They couldn't hang out in the tops of trees. Everyday. Once they left here.

"I think a fan should be your weapon." He knew some aggressive techniques. This was a memory he knew the dance of. Sure it was a lot like swordplay, but it was quick and possibly playful. He smiled. Of course, learning the strength of their magical ways would not be easy. They only wanted to survive. Not hurt anyone terribly.

Cha Cha sat back up and looked at him. "What are you thinking?" She wanted to know.

"Oh, just close your eyes." He smiled. "It'll come to you if you let it."

She winced as if he was kind of annoying or just crazy. But then he knew she could see it. Yes, like some lovers do in such ordinary yet sensuous play. Here they were watching each other's minds, learning techniques with swift steps and the flick of a dangerous fan.

  3. Who knew a fan could be so ferocious? I like how Milo chooses it as ChaCha's weapon. And also, of course, that they're reading each other's minds at the end.

This collage is so colorful! Thanks so much for including my purple florals; they make for a nice contrast against the orange.
